Bergen: First Hotel Marin Review

Central location and a comfortable room worth every cent

Although the hotel is located quite a far walk from the main train station, the location in proximity to the rest of Bergen is very central. You’ll find that you’re in walking distance from all of the main attractions, UNESCO World Heritage sites, the harbour, restaurants and shopping districts. It can be a little difficult to get around by foot during winter but bus stops are just around the corner from the hotel.

My boyfriend and I stayed in standard double room with breakfast included. The bathroom floors are heated and the walk in shower was much better than what we had in Oslo. There’s enough room to hang all of your big jackets and store luggage to keep it out of the way too. The buffet breakfast is served in a very large dining room. There’s a selection of traditional Norwegian breakfast foods as well as the usual cereals, toast, bacon and eggs and lots of coffee.

Each room includes free WiFi and a television with cable. You also have access to the sauna and swimming pool but we didn’t use those while we were there. If you need a map, ask reception and they’ll be happy to provide you with one.

I give First Hotel Marin four stars.
