Our House: The First Three Months

It’s our three-month anniversary! David and I have officially lived in our house for three months now and we can’t believe how quickly time has flown by. On one hand it feels like we’ve only just moved in (there are still a few boxes to unpack) but on the other it feels like we’ve lived here all along.

Each morning we wake up and pinch ourselves because we still can’t believe we’ve bought our own house.

In the three months that we’ve lived here, we’ve celebrated Christmas, travelled to Hong Kong, spent countless weekends enjoying the fact that we live so close to the beach, I’ve spent the weekend in Byron Bay and we’ve both gone back to work. Despite that, we’ve also had time to make a few changes to the house. There not much, but they’re still so exciting to us.

First up, we have a new screen door which means we can finally let the breeze through the front entrance.

Homemade matcha pancakes on the back deck.

In the backyard, we’ve put up an outdoor bar setting (using only an allen key) and we converted a storage box into an outdoor seat. We purchased a barbeque and we’ve even gotten our green thumbs on and started planting things!

I’ve started growing my own vegetables. The cucumbers are thriving, tomatoes are hanging in there, the chillies are doing well and something has completely eaten my passionfruit plant (the investigation into what did this continues).

The tadpoles who live in our backyard pond have grown their legs and become baby frogs – *sniff* they grow up so fast!

Our home library/ study is almost completely set up – there are a few more changes to make yet, including a fresh coat of paint.

Most exciting of all, we finally hosted our housewarming!

Now that we’ve been living in our house for three months, we’ve worked out the kinks and created a list of what we want to renovate and update.

In the next three months we’ll have the roof completely redone, our Australian made lounge will be completed and delivered and we might even get some painting done (no promises though).
