Next to the most remote beach in Australia.
Located just 20 minutes’ drive north of Byron Bay, Wooyung Beach Holiday Park backs on to farm land and one of the most remote stretches of pristine, dog-friendly beach in Australia.
The reception staff are pleasant and very helpful at check-in and also have a shop should you need to stock up on anything snack-wise. As for the park itself, the unpowered side was well spaced and we felt that we had enough room to ourselves, however, we met people who were unhappy with how crammed in they felt at the powered site side of the park.
Unfortunately, the toilet facilities left much to be desired. With only three toilets and showers available for men and three for women, there’s a lot of waiting if you don’t know when the peak time to pee is.
There’s lots of wildlife around the park too so if this is your dog’s first time camping, it can be a little distracting. We had a little bit of trouble with the Australian brush turkeys coming in too close for food.
With options to camp on powered and unpowered sites, as well as cabins (which are not dog-friendly), there are plenty of options to book from, just don’t expect too much in the way of luxury. We only paid $30 for a night on an unpowered site after all!
We give Wooyung Beach Holiday Park two paws out of five.
