BROKEN HILL: Broken Hill Outback Resort Review

Comfortable accommodation in a beautiful location

The Broken Hill Outback Resort lies just outside of Broken Hill, surrounded by the desert and the wide open skies. With a powered campground, unpowered campground and cabins available, we opted for extra comfort and booked three nights in a king cabin. Each cabin comes with a parking space directly in front of the room.

Each cabin also includes a private back deck, complete with lounge chairs, BBQ and a stunning view of the desert.  Easily the highlight for us was the incredible bathroom with uninterrupted views of the desert from the shower. Our room also included WiFi, a smart TV which we were able to connect to Netflix (providing the internet was up and running), and a kitchenette.

One of the issues we encountered each day was the internet and power cutting in and out. This was only really an issue of a night when we were trying to shower or wash our hands. The power cuts didn’t last too long, but it did leave us without water for about 20 minutes each time and it happened. Unfortunately this also meant that the pizza bar and restaurant were closed thanks to the power outages and broken generators.

Breakfast was expensive and not worth the price given the selection of cafes available in town. Thankfully, you don’t have to book in for breakfast and we’re glad we didn’t more than once! The one time we were able to grab pizza for dinner at the resort restaurant was great but we could only have it once because of those pesky power outages.

The staff were great, very helpful and apologetic about the power outages. The cabin was clean when we arrived and was cleaned once during our three-night stay.
